Right, I knew the station had been torn down. Just amazing to see how different the area looks, in general. I'd read that the old station was decrepit, falling apart, just like much of the Rock Island railroad.

@lcar4000 that's because The original LaSalle street station was torn down in 1981- a year after Rock Island Railroad Bankrupt and went out of business on March 31 1980. This may be the same location as the old station but it is NOT the "same" station.

Probably early 70's. I can't say for sure. I remember there was, on the loop elevated station at LaSalle, still neon signs for the Golden State and 20th Century Limited, even though I think those trains had been discontinued. I moved from Chicago in 1978 and though I've been back to the city quite a bit, didn't venture to LaSalle Street Station. I had seen North Western Station a few years ago, and that was quite a change as well.

@lcar4000 The only reason I went to this place was to see what it looked like. I decided to record a video of it to give others a view of it too. I like how videos such as these give others an idea of how specific places have changed over time. As a matter of fact, someone commented on another one of my videos, saying that the place looks no different than it did 35 years ago.

Sure looks different from what I remember, when the Rocky Mountain Rocket and Golden State left from here.
