@CalyxAsgard "you can feel your belly fill with air and exhaling slowly to feel it move out." It seems like abdominal breathing's beneficialness is an interesting theory, but the phrase " Chest breathing is the less efficient way to draw in oxygen." is not backed up by any science or research or trial and error, and in fact is just stupid. The diaphragm (which is located in the belly area) is a sheet of internal muscle that extends across the bottom of the rib cage. It does not "fill with air".
We were all born abdominal breathers, they main reason we end up chest breathers is due to unconcious social pressures over appearing fat as abdominal breathing makes your belly expand and contract, thus we learnt to suck in our guts more and end up depending on our chests.
@UnityPhreak * No, abdominal breathing is about using the diaphragm (which is located in the belly area) more the way nature intented us to. Chest breathing is the less efficient way to draw in oxygen.
Thanks Debbie; a university professor talked to me about deep belly breathing. He said many over-achievers practice it automatically. Maybe yes, but it does bathe the brain cells and body cells with plenty of oxygen. That can't be bad. Deb, I like your style too; very attractive lady.
Thank you for explaining. it would have helped more to have a Demo with this video :o)
