Who can't relate to the line - "I was around, but you didn't notice me back then"? When I wrote this song I was remembering childhood crushes, thinking of the endless new schools I went to and the ridiculously romantic valentines I'd leave for little girls I didn't even know, then I'd have to hide in embarrassment until my family moved again and sent me to a new school. Whew! How I survived my boyhood, I'll never know. The great thing is, I now have my Sweetheart of All Time to send valentines to. Her name is Patricia O'Driscoll and she very lovingly films and edits these charming videos to accompany my songs. At the end, you see us walking along a small canyon near her home, meandering along a path that winds up against a canyon wall of trees and wild flowers and then falls away in tall, flowing grass to the trickling creek below. This is one of my favorite songs from my CD, The Way Out West. www.michaeltomlinson.com ©2009 Michael Tomlinson / BMI

  • Well done video!!! I really like the homey look and feeling. What a wonderful voice.

  • I couldn't agree more Bill. I've been saying this since the early 90's! It's sad that so many crummy bands get all the lime light.

  • What a classy song & video. The photography here is just a joy. I've been listening to MT for 15 years now, so I'm not surprised by great songs continuing to come from him. -JB

  • I listened to him years ago and kind of forgot about his music. How refreshing to hear this again. Great post!

  • What a great voice, & I love songs that tell a story. It's a great short story, something a book could never do. I've never had a book put me in such a perfect place as Michael does. Something about the sincerity of the voice lets you go on a 5 min journey that is so real. Love it thank you

  • how can you be so good looking with such a matching wonderful voice!

  • Music doesn't get any better than this!!!!

    Love this guy

  • Michael, you have an amazing talent and great voice.

  • WOW, I started reading this post and thought someone had stolen mine from another video! 1986 was my intro to MT too, and Run This Way Forever was the tape I had! I have looked for a CD forever and finally thought 21st century...looked on the internet...there he was. Now I have that CD and more. Yes, warm and mellow but also moves me to tears...Yellow Windows. Lord have mercy, I'm a true fan. Love your heart soul and talent, MT. Thank you so much.

  • Like the idea of the young girl in the beginning and then the adult at the end following him. Very nice.

  • micheal ,,you are wonderful
