@peanutismint Which original? Did someone record the first singing of the hymn when it was written 130 years ago? It's a hymn... And I really think it's kind of inappropriate to critique a worship service. They're not singing to entertain or impress anyone, they're worshiping God.

It's a technique called verse leading. Its to help A) to get the guy running the slides to know whats next, B) keep people in beat, and C) a way to show and express the worship leader's passion for the hymn/song and to express his heart towards God. I would suggest taking less time criticizingly someone's style and focus on your own personal worship to God.

basically, what the guy is trying to say is that there is a traditional melody which has been sung for many years, and this melody and version is fairly unique. but worship is worship. doesn't matter how you do it as long as you bring glory to the lord
