Nice playing I have a fender pro junior and a a 520DX. Which tube do I change to the 12AU7 the one closest to the input Jack?
-
Firstly, this is a 1960s Green Bullet with a Controlled Magnetic element, not a new crap Green Bullet 520DX with the crap element. Secondly, I have been playing for over 25 years. Thirdly, I switched one 12AX7 in the amp to a 12AU7, so I get more overdrive before feedback. I keep the tone on 2-3, volume around 5. That's it. The Pro Junior only has two knobs.

Can you please tell me how do you set your amp to sound this way?

And, by the way, you will not get the sound you are looking for out of a 520DX. You will want to upgrade the element to a Controlled Magnetic or Controlled Reluctance if you really want the killer vintage tone. The 520DX element is NEVER going to give you that. The tube sub will help to control feedback, though.

Just a little tongue blocking lick. I don't know how to explain these things. I would tell you if I had the vocabulary.
