Rangoon, Burma, a once thriving Jewish society, had 2500 Jewish residents until the community dissolved during WWII, and the US ASEAN Business Council is trying to keep the Jewish heritage alive in Burma.
Most of Burmese Jewish community left after the coup by U Ne Win in 60's who turned Democratic Burma into Socialism and dictatorship. U Ne Win nationalized almost all Businesses, Factories and Properties including those owned by Burmese Jews. And Israel was welcoming coming home Jews from around the world, so Burmese Jews left. That synagogue in the news has lists of Jewish family names from 1886 or so.
