-Pat Riley is hired as the new president and head coach

-Glen Rice is traded for Alonzo Mourning

-The 1995-96 regular season/the Tim Hardaway trade

-One of the greatest (and most forgotten) upsets in NBA history. The Heat had just completed a trade on the day of the deadline , but their new players didn't have enough time to fly out to Miami. The Heat were only able to suit up 8 players that night, and were facing the Chicago Bulls, who were on their way to the best record in NBA history (they would finish 72-10). Despite their extreme player shortage, the Heat managed to suit up enough players and they would go on to upset Chicago, handing them 1 of their only 10 losses of the '96 season.
