  • Nice clip of David, a true hero!

  • @twolaneblacktop71 Thanks! Yes David was very brave. He was limping quite badly at this race and it must have taken a big effort to get back into racing again.

  • How the fuck does this video have less than 2,000 views? My only assumption is that people would rather worship pussy footballers than true heroes.

Godspeed Roger Williamson and David Purely.

  • Such an inspirational person, and an absolute lion of a man. RIP hero.

  • Proper old fashioned hero that man. Sad to see he died so young, I was hoping to find that he was still around 'doing the right thing'. His effort to save Roger Williamson was both tragic and heroic at the same time. His utter dejection and anger at failing to save Williamson & the inept efforts of marshalls is quite haunting. A true hero. But I do hope & believe that both Roger & David are in a better place now and maybe banging wheels with Ayrton, Jochen & Giles et al. Godspeed indeed and RIP.

  • I hate F1 but what this guy did in 1973 makes him my all time sporting hero.

Dave Purley (ex F1 driver and total hero) RIP.

  • Just found out about this guy and his heroic attempts to rescue Roger Williamson.

    A true hero!

  • when men were men!

  • @fearbeforefearbefore here here

  • Great video, David was a top bloke! Wish he was around today, the world needs more people like him!

  • Makes me cry knowing he had to hear Roger shouting for help and he did everything he could :'(

  • Real Hero !

  • David seemed have a mind & body of steel but a heart of gold. he could be my friend anyday if i was driving f1 racing. R.I.P you brave man :-)
