I can't understand why you would bring your recovery skate around in a D shape before your next push outward. To me in classic form it works better to go straight out to the side on each stroke bringing the recovery skate in to the center as far as possible so that you get an outside edge to push with each time. You get a nice rhythm and flow going with the hips giving a strong outside edge push with each stoke. Bringing the recovery skate around behind you is best on the double push.
