@AbsintheSyringe thanks for the pep talk... Maybe I'll get the money to take myself to Europe or the US one day. Ubuntu is getting bigger in Australia, but it's still pretty much Microsoft land at the moment. When Natty was in Alpha I was running it on my laptop from a Live CD and showed it to a Mac fangirl. She was so impressed she wanted to try running Ubuntu on her laptop :) I love the Unity interface, it's going to be huge especially after 12.04

@AbsintheSyringe I am so jealous. I wish the UDS could come to Australia, but I doubt that'll ever be feasible :(

@winustolinuxfully I'm afraid what you're saying is not credible... Gnome's decision that the UI needed to be revamped was taken at the GUADEC conference in Istanbul in July 2008, this is 6 months before the first leaked beta of Windows 7, and before the decision to revamp Windows Mobile (which is where MS developed the panel based UI)... Gnome's redesign was in response to the earlier redesign of KDE, not to Microsoft plans which were yet to be made... stop trying to revise history.

@lewiar keep digging you will also find that Windows 8 was on the table at the same time. Very obvious that you are oblivious to this fact. Nevertheless how ironic these two gui's resemble Windows 8, Guarantee you if they were not aware of where Microsoft and Mac was moving to linux would still be at gnome 2. Theres no attraction from dumb down gui's from our side and the finger gagger is NO driver support for any in store purchaces. Thats what ebay is for, old outdated hardware.

@winustolinuxfully That's all very nice and all, but how can Gnome and Canonical be copying Microsoft when Gnome shell was previewed in 2009 when Windows 7 was only just getting ready to RTM, and has been in development since then.... MS shows an "application" in 2011 that runs on windows, like windows media centre... not a real new UI... and suddenly Gnome/Canonical is copying Microsoft. Not really!

@jebril I got this impression myself to. But i just think hes a fag. The reason i say this is his feminine posture and demeanor. He really needs to be open source about it and come out of the closet.......lol show us your source code and we will make you straight again! lol..lol
