Karl-Birger Blomdahl (1916-1968), Adagio from Theatre Music No.1 Vaknatten (The Wakeful Night or Valpurgis Night).

Stockholm Sinfonietta, J-O Wallin, cond.

K-B Blomdahl was a pupil of Hilding Rosenberg (1892-1985) and from the 1950's he went into modernistic twelve note music. His modernistic works are the most famous but I prefer this, I'm not sure when exactly it was composed but i guess before 1950.

Art by
Eilif Peterssen (1852-1928) and
Elin Danielson-Gambogi (1861-1919)

  • Bravo! Cheers from Brazil

  • @gabriella280659 hm.. perhaps “valpurgis night” was not the right translation, witches? ;) i guess it’s more about greeting the returning sun (well spring is far away..). thanks for watching!

  • Uhm! La notte delle streghe! Mi piace moltissimo il carattere inquietante e dolce al tempo stesso di questa melodia....
