I can't pretend to be one millionth the player Shawn Lane was but his melodies influenced me a ton
Jet lagged and getting up earlier than normal I plugged in after 3 weeks of not touching a guitar and this is what came out

  • l love the tone ! Clean Are you playing the backing track ?

  • @kanga58

yeah i just looped the chords in a dc timeline

  • Nice. I remember listening to one of Shawn's pentatonic demonstrations and he ripped through it so fast it sounded like sonic cotton candy. It was just a pentatonic demonstration, hahaha.

  • @bigfattrolllord

his bionic runs where he hits the pinch harmonic snap sounds like special effects. it's like we all think at one point "wouldn't it be cool to play as fast as you can think" but he actually does that. data dump from brain to fretboard and his hands do exactly waha he wants them to do. not mine!

  • Great vid, thanks for posting this! Would be nice to hear you improvise over the "Get You Back" progression. :)

  • @MyShawnLaneVideos

i would probably fall down in the fetal position! give me about 10 years to learn a bar or two... :)

i miss shawn being with us every time i hear his music or think about his melodies.

there is something extra tragic about the missed potential of a genius like him or gatton passing away before their time and never making it big. if talent equalled success these guys would be kings of the milky way.

  • l love Shawn's melodies. It wasn't just about shredding. That's why l like BucketHead to. He creates great melodies. And Buck has a new album out and has sinlge available with proceeds going to Japan sunami relief. Glad you mention Danny Gatton too.Live Redneck Jazz with the great Buddy Emmons always blows me away. Sometimes, almost always, l have hard time figuring out which is steel guitar and which is Gibson Custom Les Paul. Man did those guys blow. Circa 1973. OOne the best ive albums ever!

  • Check out the Shawn Lane channel at Google Plus

  • wipe a tear from my eye... Shawn, gone but not forgotten. Nice playing man.

  • Some of Shawn's melodies hold a dear place in my heart, Not again, the way it has to be, the hurt the joy, etc.

    Thanks for sharing this.

  • @mentoneman There was only one Shawn, just like there's only one of you. You should post more videos.

  • Great as always!!
