@rialcnis 2001 by north is rumoured to exist on a test pressing same thing with the fantistic voyage by rosenman 10 commandments was on a 45 I made a list odd film scores on 45s in the film music club in myspace you mean the battle music with the marching drum the gladiators fight to the death music was ultra modern atonal and arhhytmic some of 2001 was reused in the shoes of the fisherman a reviewer back then said norths music for 2001 was brililant even though it was replaced by records

@spacepatrolman There is also the interesting North Score of 2001, whick is hard to like at first, (album is out there) but grows on you once you forget the preferable Classical score Kubrick stuck to.
I love Roza, Ben Hur, El Cid, and I love the score to Ten Commandments by Bernstein. Shoes of the Fisherman score might be better in certain ways, but the Spartacus score was so unexpected and different from other scores of epic films. The Gladiator scene is the best marching drum cadence.

@rialcnis im begining to think that the soundtrack to the shoes of the fisherman by north is better than spartacus even though it isnt as blaring [north supposedly wrote a two piano version of spartacus for editing thats not seen the light of day ] soddom and gommorah by rosza is another unrelenting score then there is attack another robert aldrich film that has everykind of music in it by frank devol finally if you want an assualt on your ears listen to mr. blue by clear light .

@spacepatrolman I find that when i watch one of the other one---I always argue with myself as to which one is the greatest and usually say to myslef "this one is the best." usally i say Spartacus is the greatest film of all time, but when i see ben hur i flip flop. No doubt about it though, Spartacus has some gnarly flaws, that are kind of endearing to me now--like Douglas's voice cracking Ben Hur though is virtually flawless. Had Kubrick had his way though, Spartacus would'a been perfect

@rialcnis wyler said that the 10 commandments and ben hur were similar movies but ben hur engaged the audiance more
