So what your seeing here is my piano rectial for Grade 9 Piano. I was playing a romantic styled list C piece copywritted in 1911 called 'la sarabande' by Grovlez from 'The Celebration Series The Piano Odyssey'. It's an interesting fact that Grovlez actually based this song on a french poem by Tristan Kilnger i believe, not too sure because i do not have the book with me.

btw the day of my recital it was VERY hot and the fans were blaring which is why when the video first starts its really quiet. To hear the song properly please turn up your speakers. I'm sorry for any complications or difficulties this may produce for you and your listening enjoyment.

Enjoy!

  • what's a grade 9?

  • Grade 9 is a level in through the Royal Conservatory of Music. The levels go up to Grade 10, and any post study would be toward your ARCT, or Associate of the Royal Conservatory of Toronto. In which this accomplishment can either be for Performance or teaching. Along with studying the repertoire in each grade, you're expected to take exams in Theory, History and harmony, to achieve each certificate.

  • and isnt this supposed to be for grade 7? i have the book :|

  • If you read the note I have in the sidebar, when I had done it, it was for Grade 9. If it is in fact listed in the new series as Grade 7, then I suppose it is now considered Grade 7 material.

However I am not mistaken that this was in fact played for my Grade 9 RCM Piano Examination.

  • Nice playing! Thank you. I played this for ABRSM Grade 7. Perhaps you could give it a bit more forward movement through the different sections, but a really lovely performance!

  • Very nice playing. Expressive and musical. Can't hear it clearly, though. And yes, this was on the ABRSM Grade 7 syllabus. Didn't do this for mine, did Mendelssohn. I got a Distinction. =)

  • oh okay thanks for explaining. basically its another music board that has 10 levels. I was finding a sample of how this piece would sound like because its in abrsm grade 7 new syllabus. you play well=D

  • i thought it only goes up to grade 8 :S

  • This piece is so beautiful but kinda depressing in a way...

I'm might be doing this for my grade 7.

Hope I can play as great as you one day...I'll try my best =D
