Is Colbert laughing with you or at you

Stephen Colbert, the comedian, not the character, identifies himself as a Democrat, the character is a moron and a Conservative "something". O'Reilly was confused, but not because he thought that Colbert was his ally, but more because of the fact that Colbert managed that interview with complete comedic genius and Bill couldn't do anything about it. The Colbert character is a satire of both O'Reilly and Beck.

I think Colbert isn't really making fun of any ONE specific group or thing.. I feel like he is making fun of ALL groups including republicans and democrats and also the media and news organizations in general... I think he's basically saying, "come on, we all know this isn't really news, it's all spun ridiculously. don't lie to me, and I won't lie to you."

You can't just make a statement that says "The Conservatives didn't understand that Colbert was making fun of them." I'm more liberal than conservative but I can't stand bullshit that comes out of Olberman's mouth.

I'm fairly conservative (in some areas) and what I like about Stephen Colbert is that he lampoons what I believe and makes me think through the implications of certain views. He scrutinises conservative opinion and makes you consider what is worth holding onto and what should be rejected. I'm very liberal in some ways and very conservative in others, but even though I disagree with much of Colbert's worldview, I still trust him more than the lunatics at Fox.
