Great acting by Gene Hackman. Notice how when he says "most lethal killing machine", the camera pans to Washington (Hunter), who holds very different opinions on waer compared to Hackman.

Clearly you don't understand what irony is. They named the movie after the fact that the mascot of Alabama is the Crimson Tide.

Just to clarify, 'Big Al' which is an ELEPHANT is the mascot. 'Crimson Tide' is their nickname which came to being prior to Alabama having an actual mascot.

Noted, thanks for the info I was always curious how you would personify a Crimson Tide at the games and an elephant makes some sense, especially if it wears red. Much better than the cardinal of Stanford and the tree that the band brings out, although the tree is meant to be humorous.
