2009 CNE (Canadian National Exhibition's Spirit of Woodstock Fair). An ailing Johnny Winter with special guest Leslie West of Mountain performing Jimi Hendrix's Red House.

Johnny Winter is obviously ailing here, and the addition of Leslie West just make this a historic and poignant moment. FIRST CLASS here in EVERY WAY.

Here's to the legends. May the legends' spirit & music never die....

  • May the Blessed Hand of the Almighty touch the Heat and Heal the Soul of the great Leslie West as he continues to Bless our World with his awesome skills on guitar.

The Peace, Love and Light of this musical master always shines through.

  • @OnenessNow HELL YEAH!

  • Lets all pray for the great Leslie West. Leslie underwent emergency surgery after being admitted to a hospital in Biloxi, Mississippi, on Saturday when his leg started to swell and his foot went septic. The doctors tried for two days to save it to no avail. The decision to amputate was one that was necessary to save his life. Leslie is expected to recover but faces extensive rehabilitation. We are all prayin' for ya Leslie!

  • Leslie West now touring with Jack Bruce Jr!

Check the great fatsbies forum link in my profile page!!

  • I find it amazing that one of the mightiest, most confident players on the planet (Leslie) never tries to out-do or outshine a fellow artist.

That's unique in this business. I think that's why Leslie's duets just stand out, and why so many love playing with him onstage. He's a rare breed.

  • When two legends come together to pay tribute to one third, it gives this...

  • amazing, just as great, know matter the age. like fine wine

  • @depper

Bet he was hopping mad over this. (only kidding, of course) Seriously, that's too bad. I hope he recovers and can keep doing what he does. They're all getting older, but they all show the newbies how it's done every time they perform.

This clip sounds a million times better than Winter on that "Crossroads 2010" clip. There was a segment of him playing "Red House," and it was embarrassingly bad; good to see him in top form here. And I hope West makes a full recovery.

  • I never missed a JW show in the NY area in the 70s & 80s also Mountain.

  • jimi can hear johnny winter playing his jam in heaven and he says groovy and rock on keep on playing the blues and don't ever let your passion for it die out and johnny winter said don't worry brother i won't...

  • you know in the 70s many of us were fortunate to see a myriad of historical shows, but J.W. and leslie west...man that stacks up!

  • I caught Johnny Winter live at Forrest Hills in NY circa 1968.

    Still blowin' hard.

  • @depper

    Yes, yes he is.

I believe his breed is called "New Yorkie". ; )
