I was with VP-46 based out of Whidbey Island, Washington. We carried the AGM 84 Harpoon, and the AGM 65 Maverick,as well as the Mark 80 series general purpose bombs, and various air laid mines, and sonobuoys...

Sorry to all you guys but the USS Guadalcanal was the worst ship I was ever on. Granted I only sailed on 4 ships but still, when your taking a dump and the head floor is full of water, shit, and fuel something is wrong.

Say, that was my old ship, the USS Guadalcanal!!! I was rather hoping they would make it a museum ship (or at least razor blades), but I guess the Navy had other ideas. It's rather tough watching this (lots o' memories), but WTF, good shooting, fellas! :-)

What's ironic is that after I left the Guad for shore duty, I was transferred to VXN-8 @ Patuxent River, MD Air Station which flew, you guessed it! P3's!

wouldn't these planes work for air support over afghanistan and iraq? They're just as fast as the A-10 and they stay in the air forever, and could be fitted with ECM, surveillance sensors and armour.
