Welcome to the first episode of Ask COBB! This episode covers the ins-and-outs of Subaru AccessPORT Data Logging and analysis to determine the health of your car and your tune.

This video is in HD, so for best video quality, be sure to select 1080p resolution and watch in full screen!

Remember that Off-The-Shelf Maps, including High Wastegate and Low Wastegate alternate maps can be downloaded from our AccessPORT Map Database at http://www.cobbtuning.com/subaruotsmaps. The Map Notes are downloadable from the same location and will give you a good understanding of map requirements, power output and target boost levels.

  • Just sucks that some dealers will see you have reflashed your ECU and void the warranty on your motor. The AccessPort is detectable by dealers, even if reflashed back to the stock map. There are ways to fix this but require a reverse engineering of Cobb's AP software. Cobb could do it but won't.

  • @HighCardWins Would you care to provide additional information regarding this? We are not aware of any confirmed cases where an AccessPORT was correctly uninstalled and detected by a dealer.

  • @drglords With cams, you will need a custom tune to prevent misfires. You also might need be using the wrong restrictor pill, but a customer could probably help diagnose that. - Ian

  • On the STI AccessPORT mapping, S and S# are different boost level maps. You can log either one. - Ian

  • @bicyclewreck Got it, thanks. I figured that after I tried it myself.

  • @cobbtuning

From what I read, it's not that the AP itself is detectable, it's that an ECU modification is detectable. They couldn't tell if it was a Cobb AP necessarily, but they could tell that the ECU had been flashed in general; either through a flash count or a checksum. I don't know any more about it than that.

Here an old thread on NASIOC: 1015193

You will have to use the showthread command since YouTube won't let me post it.

That is way back in '06, so things may have changed?

  • @GargantulaKon

It looks unclear at first, but if you watch again, you will see him say that the single parameter he selected is what is displayed on the screen while logging. However, all of the 'default' parameters are being logged when he presses the 'OK' button to begin logging.

  • @jflayva I think it has something to do with the load on the vehicle. Meaning, how much the engine is actually working, a lower gear will require less of a load to accelerate it, while 3rd or 4th will require much more power/tq and boost.

  • so lets my 02 is running an aem intake what will actualy happen when i flash to stage 2 91 with cobb sf intake ?

  • @cobbtuning thanks Ian, another question; do you make maps? can i send my datalogs to you to get a new map made for me? i live in Tennessee and there isn't any tuners around here. im unsure what to do

  • And why is the monitoring is set in 3rd or 4th gear ?? What is the relationship in the gearing to boost??

  • Whats the difference between this and a ecutek software?

  • very helpfull. Defitely a video worth providing inside the AP product itself.
