from 1986: Reva and Roxie receive a shock on the morning of Reva's wedding. Maeve calls Fletcher. Mindy dazzles Billy, H.B., and Sally with her happiness, unaware that Kurt has been killed.
i miss roxie:-(...and they never mention her like she never was. i glad to say that reva had finaly mentioned her in a episode a few months ago..i was so shocked
All we know to this day is the phone call where the guy said "There was no way he could survive that." I don't think anybody really checked things out there. I always thought Kurt was going to come back sometime because he "wasn't really killed". I think they may have wrote it this way so they could do that in the future, but they didn't. So yeah, we can pretty-much assume he's dead.
You usually didn't see HB get this upset. Kurt seemed to be such a big character at the time, yet we never really heard about him afterwards.

Was that Josh in Venezuela who said "Oh my god no" as we saw the rig on fire?

Had to be at least October, because that was the month they updated the theme song. You can hear the synthesized drumbeats opening the updated theme.
