Tang Dynasty Dance in Xian and originated in China's Tang Dynasty over 1,000 years ago. Not sure how accurate it is but supposedly it has been recreated here in accordance with historical records though I imagine it has been highly stylized. Non the less very beautiful and entertaining.

  • Beautiful costumes, but not in anyway the original Tang dynasty music or dance.

The Dance show is nothing more than a modern-showbiz inaccurate version of history.

The original tang dynasty music was similar to Korean A'ahk and Japanese Gagaku music.

I don't know why Modern China must feel they have to mess with their historical heritage for bucks: Japan, Indonesia, India, Vietnam and Korea sure don't and they're respected worldwide for preserving their ancient cultures.

  • @MrHalohalo85 I think it has been already been established by myself and everyone the level of authenticity of the dance. No reason to beat a dead horse. I think you also overstate other cultures versions of dance. I've been to many cultures including the ones you state and they do similar stylized performances. Besides who do you think the Koreans and Japanese where influenced by .

  • what is the title of the song??

  • @rongcon Sorry they didn't give the title of the song and I don't know it.

  • agree with linxiaoshu, this dance is not from Tang dynasty but Nanbei Dynasty (literary translation: SouthNorth dynasty).

  • @hanqiangycl I don't think anyone is really debating the authenticity of the dance. It is simply the name the performers gave it.

  • @ALTPhotoImages he never said that korean and japanese weren't influenced by chinese. he was just saying that the tang chinese were more similar to the japanese and koreans and that this dance is not tang chinese dance.....:P

  • @mannysea Good explanation. Here's a translation of your post " It is a dance of spring "Yang Chun March", performed by a group of young ladies who sing and tap with their foot for rhythm, i.e. "Ta Ge". Popular dance in both the royal court and among folks. Dance needs exaggerated twisting of the body for 3D effect. It has been lost, but some forms of "Ta Ge" survive among the border region folks. This performance is based on info from available ancient relics. Lyrics about romance.

  • @mybach1960 Thumbs up for friendship.

  • Nice capture =]

  • It's mimicing TaGe, which is a dance describing girls in Han Dynasty...here they added some Tang dance elements, but the costumes are still for Han Dynasty...making it a bit mixed..............

  • 追申。服飾唐三彩風。舞踊中央亜細亜風。音楽西洋式。日本雅楽元大陸唐楽曲。要参考。残念。日本旧東洋文化遺産在豊富。再見。

  • not Tang dynasty. more like east-Jin dynasty and north-south dynasties which just before Sui and Tang dynasty. but the song is Han dynasty style

  • @520adda thank you very much. you are wanderfle. thank you. very intelligence!

  • @mybach1960 U are right

  • Truly its not the original Tang Dynasty dance but the movements are adapted from frescos. Mainland China has devoted effort to modernize Chinese culture and innovation is a good thing. But I should say it is a pity that our ancient culture is left unpreserved and it is the communist government's fault. If you wanna see authentic Chinese culture go to Taiwan.
