At 7:01, it is everything I can do from falling outta my chair shaking with tears; a-b-s-o-l-u-t-e-l-y wonderful!

Even though the orchestra is warm, voluminous and fills out the atmosphere, I still would have liked the camera to have focused almost exclusively on Grigory Sokolov & his amazing hands.

I didn't warm to Sokolov's Chopin Etudes, but this performance is absolutely amazing! He sound's like he is improvising it on the spot, which is the hallmark of all truly great interpretations. And it's really beautifully recorded, in a glowingly reverberant acoustic..I've never it done better...

I've never thought it could be so sweet, what a delicacy, so different from what I knew before!.. Still I love Pollini's interpretations very very much, he plays traditionally "tougher", but how poetic at the same time... And I agree with NOSEhow2LIV - a tighter orchestral partnership would have made this even better. Pollini - Abbado rec almost an excellent example of orchestral playing, imho.

6:19 !!!!! His hands are blurs!
-
Magnificent playing and conception, weight with clarity and supple lyricism. The orchestral attack is sometimes rather......slack,(not sloppy, but soft-edged); a tighter orchestral partnership would have made this even better.

Thank you so much for sharing this this treasure!

Who's the conductor?
Pls post the 3rd mvmt. Thanks!
5:43 made me completely melt. SO many other performers, even my all-time favorites like Zimerman and Pollini just bash that section out. the way Sokolov just caresses it and makes it so sweet makes me want to go back and listen to it over and over and over and cry my damn heart out :P
