This is one of my most recent eBay purchases, the other being the Betamax SL-HF360 VCR. I got this to see if I had any analog recordings on a couple old 8 mm tapes. Unfortunately, I didn't find anything of importance or significance, but now I have a great new camcorder loaded with features! This camcorder stands out among other Hi8 camcorders in that it features the XR feature for increased resolution. It also records using Hi-Fi stereo AFM rather than mono like many similar models. With Hi8 VCR recording and direct audio through an external microphone jack, this camera out-performs even my Digital8 camcorder made in 2005!

  • Hi, Very Informative....I have a Sony Handycam Vision Video Hi* CCd-TRV67 and I want to transfer my video to my computer. Do you have any idea how this would be done? Thanks!

  • @1341Timber You need a capture device with Firewire.

  • Can I record with Hi8 tapes on a standard 8mm camcorder?

  • @SebiStudios2 Yes. They are both compatible, but you cannot play a tape recorded in Hi8 format on a Video8 camcorder - the picture looks messed up.

  • Really enjoyed watching this. Very informative. Amazing how technology has moved on.

  • My Canon ES900 camcorder from 1996 has a similar feature to this, where you can record things from other devices onto the tape via the RCA jacks, but there is no S-Video. Too bad they've removed these from consumer camcorders today. :(

  • i had one of these sonys years ago it cost me 800pounds stering at the time, by fuck it was worth it.
