Jailing the Lawyers!!

(new edit) A 300-strong demonstration on March 26th 2011 in Brandenburg, near Berlin, calling for the release of attorney Horst Mahler, who is serving a 12-year jail sentence for the 'crime' of expressing source-critical opinions of Holocaust scepticism. The international demonstrators also call for the repeal of Germany's notorious 'Article 130' - a law which prevents the accused (and even their lawyers) from presenting forensic evidence (or any other scholarly evidence) in their defence. Thus German lawyers are jailed (and in ten other European countries may be prosecuted and heavily fined) if they seek to defend their clients too well!

reason as to how and why people take notice when such standards are violated, they perceive and understand the fatal flaws in the logic when incidents such as this take place and how much worse it would be, and would indeed become if injustices like these were to simply be quietly accepted and ignored. A "guilty" conviction can only occur after the trial is over! If the laws are just, and the trial fair, the best a lawyer can do in anyone's defense is ensure they're given a proper hearing, which is itself the law!

i hope all of you crying out for justice here know, that horst mahler was - besides being a neo-nazi and condemned robber - active in the sds (a socialist student organization in the 68 movement) in the sixties, supported the RAF and defended - amongst others - Andreas Baader and Gudrun Ensslin in court.
