@hawkinstaveus Well first of all the solar system consists of 8 planets including earth, not 9. If you're referring to pluto as the ninth planet, as of 2006 pluto is a plutoid.

Secondly, the earth doesn't 'circle' the sun, it orbits. If anything the shape it makes would look like a prolate spheroid.

Thirdly, the sun gravitational pull is the reason the planets orbit the sun. This has been proven several times. It is not the hand of some infinite omnipotent sky god despite your hopes.

@icecool1065 You're kidding. Are you really an atheist or have you've seen the hypocrisy in religion and lost faith. It's funny. Our planet circles the sun at 66,600 mph. (Sorry about mph; I'm a Yankee and I don't know what it would be in kmh). Eight other planets also circle the sun with great precision. Do you believe that to be an accident of physics and astronomy or would you believe that to be the work of a Master Planner? You don't have to answer that but give it some thought.
