Ben Brantley - New York Times Review
A rich sincerity pervades the deep-reaching baritone of Mr. Szot. When he delivers “Some Enchanted Evening” or “This Nearly Was Mine,” it’s not as a swoon-making blockbuster (though of course it is), but as a measured and honest consideration of love.

Saw him play Emile last night at the New Theatre, Oxford. Was my first experience of South Pacific. Was very very impressed. He made the performance.

Fantastic performance. I've seen him live (albeit in 1996 or so). Simply perfectly done.
Though Ezio Pinza is the original Emile, and had portrayed the role so effortlessly. Paulo Szot's warm baritone voice takes the role of Emile deBeque to a new level, and blows all competition away.
