I think in every life someone took the only heart that ever loved them and broke it in two, most of the time it was timing and meeting the right person at the wrong time in life.
@thebigfist Don't forget Solly McElroy one of the great lead singers, Solly did not have a lot of hits, but the ones he had were some of the best ever recorded.
@vodkamarie You`re correct.Even though they were considered more"POP" than DOO-WOP, they were the only Black group fully accepted by the "whitebread" communities of the day by not having their songs"covered" by white artists, and not being constrained to the R&B charts only, as their hits were mainstays on the Billboard top 100 lists. They were great and Tony Williams had the best lead voice just edging out Eugene Mumford of the Larks/Dominos.
This is a wonderful cut from the Keys. its a toss-up:The Flamingos or the Five Keys?Clearly, the two best groups, followed by the Cardinals,Larks,Moonglows, Dominoes,Ravens, Orioles,Heartbeats,Skyliners,,Harptones,Cadillacs,Spaniels, Five Satins,Penguins,Dubs,Lee Andrews` Hearts, DelVikings
BEAUTIFUL!
