I have been working on an IR marker tracking application using a webcam as acquisition device, when I found about Johnny Lee's low-cost whiteboard great idea based on the Nintendo Wiimote I knew I had to give it a try.

Using an IR pen and a commonly available webcam, it is possible to mimic the Wiimote Whiteboard application, though it requires a bit more processing.

  • actually.. whats grt with the wiimote whiteboard is the fps.. normally availaible webcams cant come close to that resulting in considerable delay which is evident in your video too...

  • @hanusingh, not sure whether you can refer to the wii remote update rate as fps, but it is true that it is a lot faster since there is no processing involved for the PC application. With a decent PC one can expect acceptable delay, my application is not optimized in any way, including those slow debugging messages being output to the console, but is a bit faster than other first version attempts.
