Believe it or not, the final BIG nail in the coffin for the arcade industry was actually the Dreamcast. The Dreamcast introduced internet-based online capability and that was TRULY an addiction to many gamers that will sadly stay for many years to come.

What really killed the arcades was that they became too complicated and too expensive. I remember, I was really good at Samurai Showdown 1, but when I played Samurai S 4 I had my ass kicked and the guys who knew how to play wont give me a break.

So true and because people could play longer it hurt Video Game sales in a big way . That's when the First 50 cent games come to be like Dragon's Lair and Space Ace and many others .

MORTAL KOMBAT!
The comment at 6:10, I totally agree with. I remember getting $5 for the weekend from my mom and stretching that $5 over the entire weekend at the 'Family Fun Center' mini-golf arcade. I got so good at games like Donkey Kong, Defender and Joust that I could stretch a quarter over hours of gameplay. Good times.
