Beauty and the Beast (1978) 5/9

A more horrific and gloomy version of The Beauty and the Beast. Julie is a bankrupt merchant's daughter who as the only one of the three daughters chooses to save her father's life by going to the Haunted Wood's Castle where she meets Netvor. He wants to kill her, but her beauty prevents him from that. Although she is forbidden to see him she starts to love him and the love rescues him from his curse.

At first I was a little skeptical about the whole "Man-Hawk who talks to himself" thing, but after watching him hunt down, trample, and rend a young doe....(Claps slowly) okay Movie, you got me, you got me.

Yikes! This guy looks like a Harpy. Who's he talking too when he's alone?

The makeup isn't the greatest but I like that they went a different way with it and made him a birdlike creature. This is a lovely Gothic version so far.

Reminds me of Phantom of the Opera and with the part about him unable to kill her reminds me of Twilight only better and I mean ten times better.
