  • the water stream looks like it needs to be heavier.

  • @kawasakikx250ff yeah, i though that too when we were testing, untill the tank was empty in about 3 min. it is a 300 gallon tank. that means those nozzles were pushing 50 gallons a min. each at around 75 psi, and the ground was quite wet. They work great for median fires on the interstate with light flashy fuels, but I don't think you would want to drive through sage brush, bushes and heavy fuels.

  • @Recelect

There is a system that ships sue for automated fire sprinklers. Extreme Pressure with low gallons.

Have you tried more pressure with lower gallons?

  • @KosukiFire Generally in this type of fire, the rule is gallonage rather than pressure. as one cheif always said "the more wet stuff you have to put on the hot stuff, the quicker the hot stuff becomes the wet stuff" or, puts lot of water on it. pressure only calculates in when you are pumping though hose, and even then it is a direct relation to how much water is coming out of the nozzle.

  • @Recelect no that means they were pushing 100 gallons a minute

  • @christianpolice Right, total they are. If you re-read i said EACH nozzle was pushing 50 gallons. There are 2 nozzles.

  • If your going to use the spray booms your going to need a much lager tank. We have a truck with front nozzles and 400 gal tank, they hardly get used because of the how fast your water is depleted. However they work great on when working in a well coordinated attack, in which you use the this truck to make a quick hit on the fire just to knock it down while several other trucks bring up the rear using booster lines to finish the job.

  • rescue hereos!

  • That truck would not keep up with the the large grass fires we had an in Kansas this year. The truck needs a front platform so the firefighter can fight off the front like they do at my department and the hole county

  • @kawasakikx250ff Not for a grass fire, doesn't take much.

  • some LEDs in the mirrors would really top it off :)

  • nice job

  • hell that's more than enough water for the type of fire you'd be using it on...good look'n truck...back in Dec we got a 2011 f550 with those nozzles, i love them for field fires...set the pump on 100psi and go to town...

  • @Recelect yes i see what you mean now. i didn't think you would make a mistake in what you said lol.

so is that your departments truck?
