I am attempting to deal with inside door frames which have been damaged with locks being installed and then removed leaving holes and breakouts. Thinking of filling with poli-filler with a surface filler coating of paintable calking. Does this make sense?

Thank you for pointing those problems, but shouldn't you have shown how to repair those damages?  That would have been very nice.
