Stuntman Gary Connery sets a new world records for a 3,000 Foot base jump without a parachute. Gary Connery became the first skydiver to land without the aid of a parachute on May 23, 2012 in Henley-on-Thames, England. The professional Hollywood stuntman performed a 3,000ft base jump without the aid of a parachute, landing on 24,000 cardboard boxes in his home town of Henley upon Thames. Gary was wearing a revolutionary wing suit, which lessens the forces of gravity as he descended, requiring him to land at the optimal angle to the boxes as he approached at speeds in excess of 90mph.

This wasn't a BASE jump. It was a wingsuit jump from an aircraft. The description is wrong.

Of course a wingsuit can "lessen the forces of gravity." If you jump with a wingsuit, you can survive. If you jump without a wingsuit, you will not survive. That's lessening the forces of gravity, if you count velocity as a force of gravity.

I'm not absolutely sure that a wingsuit can lessen the forces of gravity either. It can lessen the effect.

Nothing more insane than Evel Knievel traveling to England, a country he's never been and attempting to jump over 13 London buses in front of a crowd of 90,000 people, succeeding the jump and coming in for a crash landing, hurting so bad he claims he'll never do it again, insisting on walking out of Wembley Stadium instead of using the stretcher and than later on succeeding in jumping 14 buses at Kings Island. Evel Knievel is LEGEND :P
