Baptist Minister Rev. Amos Brown speaks out at the San Francisco Join The Impact rally in support of marriage equality. Sorry the video is a bit shaky, and Rev. Brown isn't clearly visible, the crowd was quite large and it's hard to get a good shot with only a monopod!

  • "I refuse to be a bigot!"

So so amazing to be a part of this protest. So many beautiful gay, lesbian, and heterosexual people there to support equality and love! Down with prop 8! NO TO H8!!

  • "I am here because as a faith leader, though I am a Heterosexual and for historical reasons in my particular faith tradition we do not perform same-sex marriages, but I say to you as one native of the state of Mississippi, I refuse to be a bigot!"

    -Rev. Amos Brown

  • What a circus!

  • Of course its beyond you. Because you lack the appropriate understanding of human sexual behavior.

As far as animals, you're again missing the point. Humans are a part of the animal kingdom, are they not?

Polygamy is a red herring. Especially considering that polygamy is FAR more prevalent in "traditional marriage."

The bottom line is this: whatever your religious faith teaches you is all well and good...for you. Religious beliefs must NOT be codified into civil law.

  • As far as "why would you chose a perscuted lifestyle" is beyond me. Why do some chose to cross dress?

Whether one believes in evolution are not is irrevelant (in the context of human sexual behavior). Some animals kill with little provocation, others breed with every member of the opposite sex they come across. Some eat their young. Doesn't mean humans should do it.

Its easy to disiss polygamy as a "red herring" but some people want it just as bad as gay marraige.

  • Show your support for Amos Brown and contribute to his NAACP dinner on Nov. 21, which is facing a possible Boycott by some Black pastors due to his outspoken position according to the S.F. Chronicle. It's the least we can do and we need to do positive things to show our determination.

  • Anyone who says that they CHOSE to be gay is being disingenuous. Why would you chose a persecuted lifestyle over what is viewed as normal? Consider this, the bonobo ape, our closest genetic relative, has a population with 0% exclusive heterosexuality. Oh, but I bet you don't believe in evolution either?

    polygamy? Red herring.

As far as "preserving" and "protecting" marriage, that's only true if you have no historical context. Same sex marriage is neither new, nor unique.

  • I said that anyone can CALL themselves Reverend.

There are MANY (unfortunately) people who(lie, steal, cheat) live by anything but what they preach from the Bible, yet still call themselves Reverend.

I have met and seen people interviewed on TV who said they CHOSE to be gay. (and yes I know there are just as many if not more, who say they were born with those tendencies)

And whats next after gay marraige: polygamy?

I say preserve and protect the definition of marraige.

  • So, at what moment in your life did you "choose" a heterosexual lifestyle?

Look, that's fine if you want to live your life by the Bible, and the great thing about this country, is that you can. You can live your life however you see fit.

All LGBT people are asking, is the same thing. Live and let live.

As far as your other ignorant comments, google Amos Brown. Your assertion that "anyone" can become a Rev. is insulting to a man who has stood up since the civil rights era.

  • So if being gay is not a lifestyle or behavior, what is it? Further more any one these days can call themselves a Rev.

And the only student true men of God should be of is the Savior Himself.

He loved ALL people but also taught us to separate the sin from the sinner.

The Lord didn't love EVERYTHING. He hated sin includes homosexuality.
