@assa123assa123 Sure, they do make some conventional chronos, and even (especially in the 90s) some downright tacky watches, but the fact is that they are advancing the cause of fine engineering and horology. They also created the Mikrotimer, the mechanical chronograph accurate to 1/1000th of a second in the size of an average watch. Pretty astonishing. They won a Grand Prix D'Horlogerie for that and for another of their movements fairly recently, so I for one am not gonna be hating.
@assa123assa123 Actually a quick google search will show it was created by Jean-François Ruchonnet and Philippe Dufour with funding and more designers from tag heuer. Its 10x more of an evolution than all the manufactures that change the layout of the gears and add complications and then throw in house on it and charge 20 times as much. This is the first time a watch has used something other than gears meshing to run it. The pendulum is unique but not evolutionary but its price will be less also
whoever really designed this watched is under the curtains and probably won't be revealed soon.
the fact is Tag heuer makes 'cheap' chrono watches with absolutely nothing interesting to talk about so they decided to introduce some high-end piece to their line to try to jump up above rolex and omega etc shouting: "look! we have this great thing, we're great watchmakers! be proud to own one of our ronda quartz chronos". to double it up came the pendulum..
