Gun looks very nice but why put Samuel Colt on it when its a John M Browning's design that is turning 100 years old? Give credit where it is due John Browning is "the" definitive gun designer of all time IMO
-
John Browning couldn't have mass produced it without Colt's pocketbook. sure, he could have released his design on his own, but would it have been as wildly popular and/or scored so many government contracts? doubtful.
that being said, I agree, lol, I think Sam Colt's face on the grip is a little out of place. but like you said, give credit where credit is due. I could have a genius idea, but without the help of others that are more well established, I would get nowhere.

Imagine you actually got one of these and one day you decided you were going to take it apart. On re-assembly you make an idiot scratch. What will you do next?

@topo2407 Dunno if its been said already but I believe the auction that sold for $77k also included a paid trip to the colt factory for a tour. I was watching the auction on gunbroker back when it was happening.

@topo2407 The two models on display at SHOT were sold / auctioned. I believe one brought about $77,000 and the other perhaps around $30,000. I'm less sure about the price of the less expensive 1911.
