"Puss in Boots", a Mexican film originally released in 1961 (and titled "El Gato Con Botas" and imported by K. Gordon Murray, often cited as the "King of the Kiddie Matinee", in 1963. Murray is considered to be the "creator" of the "Kiddie Matinee", in which a children's film (of mixed quality) would show on a weekend afternoon (never during the week).

  • I would love to see this in the original language with subtitles. It's pretty good for its time. The racial angle in this film is pretty interesting. The poor people look Latino and the royalty all look like white Spaniards.

  • Such a realistic cat. Industrial Light and Magic, you've done it again. I think I saw this on TV way back in the '60s when I was 5 or 6. This and a Little Red Riding Hood film of the same type. Thanks for posting this trip down Amnesia Lane.

  • EXCELLENT!..it was a treat to watch these types of movies on regular TV back in those days! :o)
