Inedible stuff! If this becomes the norm in game development then we're in exciting times. These kinds of features breed new innovations so quickly.

I have a chat with him over IRC. The scripting language is purely functional. Side effects are returned as result of a script so he can easily keep track of them. The editor also keep snapshots of the world. Since all destructive operation of every frame are recorded, it's easy to do replay and extrapolation.

I've manage to implement a live coding architecture for my thesis project called "eple" (videos on my channel).

it's like a game loop feedback architecture: when code changes, it fires a call to the interpreter which execute the code and returns the results, all without moving hands from keyboard . simple but effective! :)

what kind of architecture there is behind this improvements? I can only think of a read print eval loop , but seems quite heavy optimized to show all that data as feedback for the user that edits the level. any hints?

@Andrew: Well that's interesting... I do wonder about how we would be able to know if two variables were linked that way; perhaps we'd need some new bits of syntax for that.

With the values editor, you currently use a slider. Have you considered using a cartesian plane so you can change two values simultaneously, such as the the bounce amount and dampening?
