@rufael1 The real name of Massaw is (Baasee) second point that there is no place in Massawa in tigrinya name in those days so the Ressi Medri it doesn't exist at that time, plus since when tigrinya people live beside the Red Sea? there is no king called bahri negassi or bahri something.  The king negash was in Tigray-Ethiopia, it is mentioned in Quraan that mosque still exist till today, one of the muslims who visited that mosque was the Sudanese president so don't mix politic with history.

The first mosque, the Ressi Medri mosque in Massawa was build in 615ad.Even before islam entered Mecca.The mosque was built by the sahaba who migrated to Eritrea in early 7th century by Uthman bin afan and few other sahabi among the 70 or so part of the first wave of migration to the bahri negassi (sea king) of eritrea ,second wave was through the eritrean port city of zula sometime after.

@rufael1 You represent nobody but yourself, my comments are still on this page I never talk about Identity I am proud been Eritrean my cultture & my language based on Arabic/Islamic but your's is based on tigray-tigrinya culture. I am from Keren & I am half Belin and in Belin I am Senhit so I am deeply rooted in Keren. the regime is tigrinya dominated for example the few people from other tribes if they go the regime will not collapse but if the tigrinya people leave the regime will collapse.

@rufael1 ..and in tigre "wed" means the same as "wedi" in tigrinya. Wedi Sheikh is from Ghinda but lives in Asmara and he is referred to in both ways. IF you knew Tigre you would know that the languages are extremely similar. Also if you really know your history you would know that Islam in Eritrea and in the Arab world started at the same time. The first Mosque in the world is in Eritrea, built by the Prophets family themselves. We are Eritreans first. Go to your masters in Saudi traitor.

@MrHagad84 --my name is Shamate I am Belen from Hashalla. I grew up in Keren and everybody respects each tribe and religion . We the Bilen have NEVER associated ourselves with ARABS and are proud that we our Muslim and Christian brothers and sisters died for ERITREA not for an ARAB identity. And if you are not an Ethiopian ( I believe you are) you would know most of Issias' support comes from the Muslim areas such as Sahel and Massawa. Why do you want to be Arab so badly? Inferiority Complex?
