Lots of good reasons for top roping. The best one being any time you decide to put you life or even you ankles at risk you do it on your own terms and only your terms. Personally I did it in 1989 pre mats. Top roped it 3 times and then went for it over a padded rucksack. My mate did it on sight / ground up and had never even lead E2 before, many falls up to 30ft onto said rucksack lead to him topping out. Respect to him and anyone doing this well scary route.

I can't imagine anything worse than doing this route with a rope to get in the way. Once you get to that long horizontal pocket its all but over.

This route is safe as houses with a pad and a spotter. No excuse for toproping!!
