Many Fuzhou elders still refer to White Crane collectively as "半硬软" or "Pwan Gain Noon" in spoken Fuzhou dialect.
This could be roughly translated to "Half hard and half soft" taking after the quintessence of the old Kung Fu maxim:- "刚而不硬,柔而不软" or "To be hard yet not stiff and to be soft yet not wobbly".
Fuzhou Cranes exemplify both internal/external attributes of Chinese Kung Fu.
To seek balance is the ultimate of Fuzhou Cranes Kung Fu......
Fascinating, 半硬软 is undoubtedly the same term as "pangainoon" (as it is remembered in Okinawa). It is probably the inspiration for the name Goju-ryu as well (along with the Bubishi)
