PS2 disc read problem

any thoughts?
I've tried several discs and none of them work. HOWEVER, it does run flawlessly in diagnosis mode.

EDIT: Since posting this video I have fixed the issue. The laser needed a DVD pot adjustment.

After messing with it and temporarily fixing it, I've given up. I'm probably going to end up just getting a new one if Sony doesn't release backwards compatibility for the PS3.

your orange flat cable in ur ps2 is scratching ur dvd so the game is not loading properly and it is hane a noisy sound.

Well since fixing my ps2, it broke again for real so I'm not worried about it. I have a PS3 so I've been hoping for a year or so now that Sony makes a firmware update making my 80gig B/C. =\

i had this problem with my swap magic discs just stand the ps2 vertical and it'll stop

mine has disk read error 10 mins in to the game do you think it is the game because it has a few scratchs and a deep one aswell

Lol what? Do you any idea how much shit Sony would be in if they put out deliberately faulty parts? They were taking a big loss on each unit sold when the PS2 was first released. though, considering you were obviously 4 years old at that time, you're clearly none the wiser.

Besides, by that theory, I guess 90% of PS2 users must be knocking their machine over, which is easier than you might think considering the controller port design and lack of resistance on the system's base.

Use a Qtip and alcohol to clean the laser and it works.

Sony gave the PS2 a cheap lens and laser so the price would be affordable. The thing I can't stand about Sony is whenever someone tells them they are having a disc read error Sony will reply by saying "disc read errors are not normal for the PlayStation 2" when just about 90% of PS2 users have this problem.
