Album Review: Hibernaculum by Earth

Earths 11th studio album is another step forward for the bands new countrified drone metal sound. It was released on Southern Lord records in 2007.

This time around, the band re-records a handful of their back catalogue. They take out the noises and feedback and replace it with clean, crisp western vibes.

The album is way too short, clocking in at 36 minutes.

They try to make up for it with the inclusions of a DVD named "Within The Drone" which includes some live footage of a performance recorded somewhere in Europe and some unintelligible backstage interviews.

Not a bad album at all. A lot more polished up than their previous album, Hex. A good listen for the doom / country crowd

Yeah, I can hear the dvd just fine, too. I just had some trouble understanding Dylans mumble speak during his interviews. The live music portion was just fine.

I think the reason why is from working in a scenester club and being exposed to boring ass music all day, when i get home, I need to switch gears and trip out to some obscure shit.

Earth: One of the greatest bands of all time. In terms of my favorite records ever, "Earth 2" is definitely in the top 5.
