This commercial was never to repair there image! it was just a commercial showing the GM mark of excellence and how there so advanced in computers/technology safety and how they were building there cars better in 1983...and Yes that Eldorado Looks Great !

This was obviously GM attempting to repair it's image and reputation with the public on the heels of the X-car debacle. GM was truly the Mark of Excellence at one point but had become the "Mock" of Excellence by the time this commercial aired.
Nevertheless I must say.....that Eldorado looks fine!!

@demoskunk2 In 1983 GM was still very strong.

It's obvious GM was getting its ass handed to it by the imports, that's why they had to make this weird propaganda commercial.

Not only should they make those cars thats the six core brands GM should have today: Chevorlet Pontiac Oldsmobile Buick Cadillac GMC Truck Dealers should be: Chevorlet-Stand Alone Pontiac/GMC Oldsmobile/Buick Cadillac-Stand Alone

I agree except Pontiac should be with Chevrolet and GMC (trucks) should be stand alone.
Chevrolet/Pontiac
Oldsmobile/Buick
Cadillac
GMC
