Hats off to you Julie. I've rated the video at five stars and would have given you more if I could.

Many years back I made an in home presentation where the owner of the house invited her whole neighbourhood, kids, grandarents and even next doors dog - who decided to try to mount my leg mid way through the presentation.

I think you topped it here!

Thanks so much - very glad there was no dog in the audience ;^D. Despite the noise the East Sacramento people were very attentive.

This hurts my ears. Yikes.
Nice job tolerating all that.

Well, Julie, one nice thing about social media -- it's QUIET. (giggle) I was pleased to hear you reference handouts so they could later connect with the details. They did give a sincere applause, so they could hear over the kitchen noise while you persevered.

I enjoyed your very specific tips which drew your audience into checking out these three forums.

Now I have a book and your web site to go check out!

Thanks for commenting. It would be great if you could rate it too - the presentation, not the sound. My wireless mic batteries were dead so I had to use the shotgun mic :(

Competing with people eating is bad by itself, but having to stand in front of the kitchen and yell over the noise. That's tough. Good job making it through.

The funny thing about speaking about social media is that the crowd is either 100% into what you have to say or completely lukewarm. I've yet to speak to a group that was in the middle.

So true, Doug. It depends on whether the crowd is savvy enough to "get it" when it comes to social media. If they don't get it yet, they'll wish they had jumped on the bandwagon sooner so they aren't playing catch-up later.
What do they say about "you can lead a horse to water...."

I learned my lesson on this one the hard way Doug, in San Diego. I found myself in front of 100 people that were there to see Mari Smith, only interested in Facebook and did not even know what a blog was.

Now I go to my speaking events armed with a total newbie presentation and an advanced one.

You are definitely right though, it is an all or nothing crowd most times and you never know what you are going to get....

Man Julie, that was a tough crowd, great presentation though. Very good point, social media is in it's infancy and anyone that knows who to use it will benefit highly. Why?

Because most have no idea what to do with social media and especially not Google Friend Connect. Way to go....
