i was just thinking recently that due to the size of the trunk (i posted earlier) that some grafting could be done lower on the plant to create a much more compact specimen. i'm big into the 2 foot tall wide tapering trunk with either several sets of foliage or a single canopy that is well rounded, have the cuts you made back-budded at all? my fig planted in sphagnum had 300!% increased vigor. talk about easy!. love your work and keep it up.

what a great trunk width at the base! do those back-bud well? that has the trunk of a prize-winning bonsai!

I find that the artillery fern can be good looking at times.

I completely agree that it has a pleasing appearance, but it sucks the nutrients and water. That's why in general (but in general, not in all cases) I ger rid of it. J.
