This is the Starliner, Florida's oldest opperating rollercoaster. It originally opened in 1964 as Starliner at the Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach, FL. It was moved here in 2004 when Miracle Strip closed and reopened in mid 2007. It's fitting that Florida's oldest opperating coaster be located in Florida's Oldest opperating park. Cypress Gardens (as it was known until 2004) opened in 1936 strickly as a beautiful gardens and world famous ski show place. Unfortunately, Cypress Gardens closed in 2009 and was bought out by Merlin Entertainment who turned it into the worlds largest LegoLand. The gardens and ski show were saved as well as some of the rides but the Starliner was not. Thankfully, the owners of the New Miracle Strip Amusement Park in Panama City Beach, FL bought the ride so it's going back home, not far from it's original location.

  • What happened to the tunnel that looked like a dragon mouth? This was the first roller coaster I ever rode as a kid back when it was at Miracle Strip and that dragon scared the mess outta me. That's really all I remember about it

  • @Carlala614 It was left behind at the old MSAP.

  • I loved this ride! Why did they have to get rid of it? It was my favorite coaster at Cypress Gardens! T_T

  • @makeacandidbroadcast Well, it didn't fit with LegoLand's plan. Fortunately, the Starliner has been saved and is being moved back to Panama City Beach, FL. They haven't started building it yet as they need to get some money for the renovation and construction.

  • @woodencoasterfan Yeah but I can't go to Panama City Beach. :( I heard Legoland's gonna have nothing but kiddie rides. I don't want that!

  • @makeacandidbroadcast Three of the coasters will be staying, the two steel coasters formerly called Swamp Thing and Okeechobee Rampage and the wooden coaster the Triple Hurricane plus they'll be adding a what seems to be a fairly decent custom wild mouse coaster in their Extreme Zone. But it looks like it won't come close to matching what the Starliner was at the former Cypress Gardens. I for one am glad I got to ride it while it was here.

  • they may be bringing this back home but it will sit in storage for 10 years thanks to the paperwork. p.s. pier park and all the condos have ruined this town

  • @woodencoasterfan Yeah I guess. It is a relief that Okeechobee Rampage, Triple Hurricane, and Swamp Thing are staying. At least those survived.

  • @leebrown2007 Yeah, it didn't come with it when the Starliner moved down to Cypress Gardens. But now, it looks like it'll be returning to the New MSAP park in PCB.

  • The got rid of tha dragons mouth?
