http://www.tweaktown.com COMPUTEX Taipei 2011 - We got an early hands-on with the Eee PC X101 here at the ASUS press conference on Day 0 at Computex.

The X101 is a brand new netbook being announced today that runs MeeGo. As far as the other specs go, it runs an Intel Atom N455 processor that brings with it 1GB of DDR3 memory. The system is "Instant On" and as you can see in the video above, it boots (and also shuts down) very quickly.

There will also be the X101H that comes with Windows 7 Starter and either a HDD or SSD depending on how much money you have to spend.

  • I want this video on my V3x unit.

  • @Ccagesniper

Do you know when that is coming out? I haven't heard any news on it lately...

  • @scorpionboy3 get the windows version

  • What if you want to use windows applications?

  • how is the audio on this nethbook..i cant find a video in here commenting about that..can somebody tell me please?

  • It's the perfect net book except for 2 things. the 2 things it should have is a hdd option, because everyone needs storage space, even on Linux, and the amd c series apus, which give u better performance at the same price.

  • My eee pc 1015 boots up ubuntu almost that fast.

  • So with the single core processor is this a lot slower than other netbooks, say the Acer Aspire One line?

Also I know it has a small SSD, but you can expand it with Micro SD cards.. does that work well or does that end up defeating the purpose of the SSD because you have to put everything on the Micro SD?

    Thanks guys :)

  • @patjennings200 I'm not offended just experienced because I was searching for a few months for a good distro and finally found one. The reason your netbook is so slow is because it came pre-installed with windows, a manufacturer's install will always be slower than manual install because of all the extra software the OEM throws in. My acer has so many things in the task bar that I never use, while my manual install only has popups for setting up the firewall and 1 or 2 other things.

  • @erdal0 Yep be sure to wake up early and get in line first thing in the morning.......
