FRONTAL OFFSET TEST

OVERALL EVALUATION: Good
Structure/safety cage Injury measures Restraints/dummy kinematics
Head/neck Chest Leg/foot, left Leg/foot, right
Good Good Good Acceptable Acceptable Acceptable

Important: Frontal crash test ratings can be compared only among vehicles of similar weight.
Test details:

The Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon were introduced in the 2004 model year as replacements for the Chevrolet S-10 and GMC Sonoma. The Isuzu i-series pickup was introduced in the 2006 model year and discontinued after the 2008 model year.

Restraints/dummy kinematics — Dummy movement was well controlled. After the dummy moved forward into the airbag, it rebounded into the seat without its head coming close to any stiff structure that could cause injury. However, there was too much upward movement of the steering wheel.

Injury measures — Measures taken from the head, neck, and chest indicate low risk of injuries to these body regions in a crash of this severity. Forces on both tibias and the left foot indicate that lower leg and foot injuries would be possible.

  • Seems more safe than the S-10 was

  • Bwahaha, Chevy makes unreliable cars? Dude we have a mid 70s 350 powered Suburban thats creeping up to 450k miles, original powertrain, abused daily. A friend of mine had an 07 Camry that was falling apart, thank god he sold that heap. By the way, learn some proper English will ya?

  • @ma3oothy Since the early 80s GM has made some of the shittiest vehicles on the planet. Take a stroll through a junk yard sometime, tell me how many un-wrecked GM you see there.

  • @chevroletfan17 I've never owned a vehicle that didn't get routine maintenance. Nothing a mechanic does will make up for poor build quality and cheap materials. Early GM wasn't bad...but my experience with GM vehicles from 2001 and up has been very poor, to the point that I will not own another. By comparison, my Camry has outdone any American car, Chevy or otherwise, that I've ever owned...exception being a 1991 Grand Marquis that could probably survive an atomic blast.

  • @FLguyGB I have a 1994 Silverado with 225,500 Miles on it no problems out of it yet and still has the original powertrain and we have owned it since 1994, if you take care of your shit it wont fall apart.

  • @ma3oothy I've owned three Chevy vehicles (Malibu, Impala, Cavalier -seatbelt failed) that cost more in repairs than the damn things were worth. All but one of them fell apart completely before 100K miles (and rattled all the way there), and that was with all scheduled maintenance. By comparison, I've been driving a 99 Camry for the past several years and just rolled over 203K miles, and all I've had to replace was the starter. GM was a good company back in the day, but they produce shit now.

  • does anyone know how fast was it going?

  • @ma3oothy gmc used to make reliable cars in the 70s, not anymore

  • i own a 07 canyon, bought it after doing this with my civic but vs a suburban, suburban drove away from that fight with a broken tie rod

  • @ma3oothy a mid 70's surburban? hahah you dont know the exact year of your own vehicle? im calling bull on your story btw

  • the 2004-present GMC Canyon is assembled in

    Shreveport, Louisiana, United States

    Rayong, Thailand
