  • This was most underrated, least respected team in Super Bowl era. First team to finish regular season at 15-1, won 18 games as a whole. Clearly man handled a very talented Miami Dolphin with young Dan Marino. Well balanced on both sides of the ball and contribution from all 49 players. Yet ranked only # 8...they should have been in the top 5. Ironically 85 Bears had the same record but they are #2. SMH

  • @MrRobspoetry I whole-heartedly agree. The 1984 Niners were labeled "soft" because they played a weak schedule but in the playoffs ended up beating three extremely talented squads in the New York Giants ('86 Champs), Chicago Bears ('85 Champs), not to mention everyone was in love with the '84 Dolphins and that high powered offense. Niners shut them all down. The Niners set the standard for excellence during the 80s and the '84 team and their results epitomized that.

  • @MrRobspoetry I'm not a Niners fan but I agree with you. The 85 Bears were a great team, but they did not have the balance of the Niners. Jim McMahon is not even close to Montana, and The Bears secondary wasn't nearly as good as The Niners secondary. The 85 Bears defense was a lot of scheme, and not as much talent.

It's why The Bears one 1, in the 80's and The Niners won 4

  • As good as Marino was back in the day it might of been too much to ask of him in that SB. He was a 2nd year QB playing the best team in football the last few seasons in the biggest game of the year. Not many 2nd year QBs can say they beat a dynasty team in the SB. I know Big Ben won a SB his 2nd year, but that was Seattle and Pitt had an awesome D. SB 19 was a tall order for Marino, maybe too tall.

  • Marino never did buy Montana that Pepsi :/

  • man the placement of these top ten lists is so subjective, The only way they can make an objective list is to set a list of set parameters and score them accordingly. IMO the best team ever was the 2005 seahawks...because I am a seahawks fan and my opinion is biased

  • @MrRobspoetry I totally agree with you , the 84 Niners are maybe the most underrated of all the Superbowl winners . The Bears had a lot of media and press behind them during their Superbowl run of the 1985 season which is partly why they are ranked #2 . Basically , a little bit of hype . Interesting enough , the Niners beat the Bears 23 to 0 in January of 85 and the Bears beat the Niners 26 to 10 in October of 85 . So who's better ? It's always gonna be subjective .

  • @MrRobspoetry thats because the 85 bears were that much better

  • Does KNBR still play "Were the 49ers"?
